Electrosonic SA visits the ISE2015
Electrosonic SA's Managing Member, Bruce Genricks and his colleagues Rupert Denoon, Jason Johnstone and Abrie du Plooy had the opportunity to attend the 12th annual ISE trade show in Amsterdam in February and made the most of it.
The pre-show events consisted mostly of training. Product managers Rupert and Jason represented Electrosonic SA at Crestron and Kramer dealer conferences respectively. The purpose of attending these conferences was to gain first hand product training on the latest products, as well as doing a walkthrough of the stand so that they could confidently represent the brands during the actual show.
On Day One of the show got off to a good start with an official cutting of the ribbon.
The Electrosonic SA team attended 2015 InAVation Awards held on the evening of 10th of February. Sitting with Kevan Jones (Executive Director - SACIA) and Simon Robinson (MD - Sun Circle Publishers) they all celebrated together as ESA suppliers and partners took most of the awards:
As distributors of Crestron, Kramer, and NEC among others; the Electrosonic SA team was eager to see what new products were on offer, and once again, ISE did not disappoint. In virtually every corner of the 36 000 square meter floor space a new surprise awaited, with a record 1052 exhibitors displaying the latest technology to professional AV and electronic systems gurus.
Bracing himself for the information overload, Bruce did his best to try catch up with acquaintances, friends and colleagues. He visited Screen International, Electrosonic UK, Green Hippo, Martin on the Harman Stand, Crestron and met up with Doctor Joseph Kramer on the Kramer stand, to list but a few. With the buzz, excitement and constant distraction within the exhibition centre, a much needed lunch escape with Rosario Crispo from Data Soft was accepted. He took both Bruce and Abrie to a restaurant where a choice of meatballs, meatballs or flat meatballs (what we would call burger patties) was enjoyed.
The overall theme of the show seemed to be 4K and although there were not too many "brand new" products, they were certainly faster, smaller and displayed higher resolutions. Bruce was glad to see that the 4K products are becoming available as actual products, as opposed to just concepts proposed in previous years. He was also impressed that 4K is now happening at 60hz instead of 30hz.
"My eye was caught by the coming of age of the astounding 3D projection mapping technology," commented Bruce, "it is so much easier to calibrate now".

Electrosonic SA is proud to represent the Crestron, Kramer and Hippo brands in South Africa - it is a privilege to be associated with partners like these!
The trade show continued with the Electrosonic SA team working hard at each of the stands - taking the time to share product knowledge with our dealers, colleagues and friends. They all remained impressed with the display of products as well as the turnout of South Africans attending the show.
As always, Crestron showcased various new and innovative products. The latest DM-RMC-4K-SCALER-C provides an advanced one-box interface solution for a single display device as part of a complete Crestron® DigitalMedia™ system. Also popular at Crestron's booth was the DMPS3-4K-150-C which provides an ultra-high-definition presentation switcher and control solution that's perfect for huddle rooms, conference rooms, and classrooms. Crestron SA Regional Manager, Rupert Denoon, was kept busy helping out on the stand and providing personal tours of the booth to our dealers.
Kramer Electronics was also well represented and used ISE to introduce the new K-Touch v3.0 (KT3) system. The new "tidy version" includes a small networked control hub running a highly customized version of iRule, as well as a cloud-based service for integrating systems worldwide.
In addition, Kramer introduced the VIA Connect Pro, an awesome improved "collaboration system" which allows you to simply work smarter – for more information check out www.truecollaboration.com. Jason Johnstone, Electrosonic SA's Kramer product manager, invested many hours on the Kramer stand.
NEC – as usual brimming with innovation - introduced the 4K SSL Projector. Using DLP technology, these projectors are laser light sourced, and achieve the almost impossible- high brightness without the need for lamp replacements. NEC has designed this technology to be eco-friendly by ensuring the projector remains mercury free, has low power consumption, and low thermal emissions.
NEC's stand was astounding; they proudly displayed their latest visual technology within a very well-planned and laid out 450 square meters of space. The stand was a showcase of how NEC products and the visual technology industry have become essential in almost every aspect of ordinary people's lives.
"I am extremely proud that Electrosonic SA was able to contribute to ISE by embedding our staff in the exhibition area," said Bruce.
In true South African style, on the last night, the exhausted team found their way to a pub in Leitze Plein. While relaxing and listening to the live music their phones started ringing with calls from the other South African visitors looking for a final catch-up before jetting home to their busy lives. Before they knew it there were about 15 people around the tables and it was 4am in the morning. The team caught up sleep on the flights back and arrived safe and sound at OR Tambo.
Overall they agreed that the trip was successful, the show was much better in terms of size, attendance, numbers and the quality of the exhibition stands. They will definitely be back again next year!
