Advancing Educational Technology in KwaZulu-Natal
Kramer Regional Business Development Manager Kumaran Kannan recently joined the Electrosonic SA team on a series of site visits across KwaZulu-Natal, exploring major AV upgrades at two leading institutions — Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
Both universities have invested in Kramer Control systems and MAXHUB Interactive Displays, showcasing how integrated AV technology is shaping smarter, more connected learning environments across South Africa.
Empowering Smart Learning at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT)
At MUT, the team was hosted by Lethu Khumalo from the e-Learning Department and toured several recently modernised venues designed to enhance collaboration and teaching flexibility.

Upgrades include:
- Language Lab: Kramer 16x16 Matrix, TP-580 T/Rs, and Kramer Control with a KT-2010 Touch panel
- Senate Chamber: 86" MAXHUB V7 Interactive display, three 86" CMA Large Format screens, Kramer Virtual Brain, KT-208 Touch panel, and DSP-62-AEC for crystal-clear audio
Installed by First Technology, these systems have earned high praise from MUT’s e-Learning team for their reliability and ease of use. MUT is now extending Kramer RC-308 control across all medium to large lecture venues, ensuring consistent management throughout its campus.
Advancing AV Control & Collaboration at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)

Continuing the KwaZulu-Natal tour, Kumaran Kannan joined Viljoen Lambrecht and Ryan Lott from Electrosonic SA’s Pro AV team, alongside Kenson Govender, Principal Information Technology Consultant at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Graduate School of Business.
UKZN is undertaking a large-scale AV upgrade, with nearly 40 venues already transitioned to Kramer Control for unified management and a consistent user experience across all learning and collaboration spaces.
Recent highlights include:
- Lecture Theatres LT1 & LT2: MAXHUB V7 86" & 75" Interactive Displays, UC P30 4K dual-lens PTZ Tracking cameras for lecture tracking, and Kramer RC-308 controllers
- GSB Boardroom: MAXHUB U3 Interactive Flat Panel, MAXHUB UC W21 camera, UC-BM35 Bluetooth Teleconference Speakerphone, and WT13M transmitters for seamless wireless presentations
This initiative reflects UKZN’s forward-looking approach to technology integration, creating scalable, reliable learning environments that blend local expertise with world-class AV systems.
