CRESTRON PIONEERS NEXT GENERATION DIGITALMEDIA 8G TECHNOLOGY
Crestron recently announced its revolutionary new DigitalMedia 8G technology, the first true one-wire, high-output network. DigitalMedia 8G delivers unprecedented ultra-high speed and long distance transmission of all data, Ethernet and control, plus analogue and digital AV signals, all over a single shielded CAT5 cable or multimode fibre strand with no compression or repeaters required.
DigitalMedia 8G surpasses the 1 gigabit throughput of standard Ethernet networks to deliver the world’s first 8 gigabit AV distribution and control pipeline. It preserves every digital signal in its native video resolution and audio format, ensuring a pure, lossless signal path, resulting in the highest quality and most reliable HD digital entertainment experience available.
DigitalMedia 8G makes it easy to enjoy all the rich media benefits of digital content, including razor-sharp HD video, streaming Internet content, Blu-ray Disc, Apple Mac and MacBook, as well as the latest high-performance surround sound audio formats.
Without signal scaling or compression, DigitalMedia 8G manages all the different digital and analogue signals throughout the home, building or campus, matching each source’s output to the selected displays to provide optimal output. Uncompressed digital signals, HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, Ethernet and USB keyboard/mouse control are seamlessly distributed up to 100m over Crestron DM 8G cable or up to 305m via CresFiber.
DigitalMedia 8G also manages HDCP content protection, EDID resolution management and CEC device control. Exclusive QuickSwitch HD technology pre-authorises HDCP keys and maintains a constant handshake for fast, uninterrupted HD switching across the 8G network.
