INFOCOMM 2010

In June this year Eugene Coetzee of Electrosonic attended Infocomm International in Las Vegas, USA. This year’s exhibitition was hailed as the second largest commercial AV show ever held, with 925 exhibitors and more than 3200 AV professionals visiting from more than 90 countries.

This year’s focus was on telepresence systems, digital signage and 3D technologies. The digital signage pavilion was large and impressive and drew huge numbers of professionals keen to enter this market segment.

Many of the visitors come to InfoComm specifically to attend the wide range of courses on topics ranging from acoustics to videoconferencing. More than 6 500 people registered for the InfoComm Academy educational courses, two thirds of which were new and addressed issues such as sustainability, digital signage and conferencing. The most popular of the courses were ‘Technology Trends’, ‘Fiber Optics for AV’, ‘CTS Prep, and ‘Elements of AV Design’.

“Although there were not many South Africans who took the long journey to Las Vegas, mainly due to the Soccer World Cup, we did manage to meet up with a couple of AV dealers and long term acquaintances in the industry. One of our aims in attending these exhibitions is to strengthen our supplier relationships and remain the leader in specialized control system, audio visual, lighting and entertainment lighting in Southern Africa,” said Eugene Coetzee.
