ELECTROSONIC AT INFOCOMM12 LAS VEGAS
Electrosonic SA's Eugene Coetzee attended InfoComm International in Las Vegas, USA, in June this year. The annual conference and exhibition for professional audio-visual buyers and sellers worldwide was attended by 34,268 AV professionals from over 90 countries. This represents a 4% increase in attendance over InfoComm 2011. This year InfoComm pushed the boundaries by mounting the largest tradeshow floor of any commercial audio visual tradeshow in the world.
The usual technology pavilion concept was used: audio, conferencing, digital signage and lighting/staging.
Amid a plethora of very professional exhibitors certain booths stood out for Eugene: "Crestron's booth was bursting at the seams and it was almost impossible to enter the booth on the first day." He explained that Crestron conducted hundreds of product tours each day thereby allowing thousands of clamouring visitors to see this industry leader's latest innovations. According to Eugene, Crestron received a record 14 industry awards this year, more than any other company exhibiting at InfoComm. "As usual their exhibit did not disappoint". Eugene was especially impressed with Crestron's Integrated by Design™ platform – which was launched in the first ever fully-functional, integrated building environment at InfoComm. Among many other new products on display were the new 3-series control processors; Capture-HD products; new Digital Media presentation systems; Fusion RV & EM; and new touch panels. "It was not surprising that Crestron was turned out to be the biggest crowd-drawing Booth" said Eugene.
According to Eugene, Kramer's booth also enjoyed great success this year, showcasing many new products; including the new Digital step-in switcher; a new 2K Digital switcher/scaler; and a new family of modular digital matrices. "Kramer wowed visitors with their award-winning Aspen [The Aspen 3232HD3G was honoured with the TV TECHNOLOGY STAR AWARD AT NAB SHOW 2012] broadcast-range of products which includes the Aspen routing switchers and control panels as well as the Sierraview modular Multi-viewer product range".
Electrosonic has had major success distributing Elite Screens, and for Eugene it was exciting to see their new acoustically transparent Lunette curved screen and the Insta-DE2 pliable whiteboard projection screen on display at InfoComm. Elite recently received the Greenguard certification for their Maxwhite FG and Versawhite screens, which certifies that these screens have low chemical emissions, making them ideal for schools.
While at InfoComm Eugene met up with Teljoy Audio Visual, and Blue Hammer, two other South African system integrators who made the long trip to Vegas. "It's useful and important to get together at international trade shows to show off great new products first hand. The Interaction with colleagues, exposure to new products, and festive events offered by Electrosonic's suppliers, ensured that I had a great and worthwhile trip!"
