MAJEED – BOARDROOM/MEETING ROOM
The client wanted a state of the art boardroom and offices at an international level, as he often entertained clients from all over the world.
Each office is equipped with a 32inch RS232 controlled plasma screen; these are fed from the Kramer VP720 scalers. Any source can be routed or controlled via the X-panel so CNN can be viewed or a duplicate of the local PC can be shown for a mini presentation, we eventually equipped the desk points with Kramer VP211DS auto VGA switcher and the client’s visitors often wanted to display a presentation without going to the boardroom. The X-Panel also offers control of the Helvar DALI lighting system and then LG HVAC systems.
The reception and staff areas are also equipped with audio, lighting and HVAC control via X-Panel.
When the door bell is pressed all the screens are switched on and the X-Panel plays a Ding Dong Wav. The current source and power status is stored, the screens are switched through a sequence showing the 2 door cameras for 2 seconds then the reception camera for another 7seconds before returning the display to its stored state. In the reception area the desktop PCs monitor shows the sequence in a popup window that disappears when the sequence is complete.
The UPX was chosen for the boardroom for many reasons, firstly the UPX is able to open Windows documents to be used for presentations (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). The UPX is also an annotation device, the client is able to draw over any image, as they work a lot is conceptual design annotation speeds up the design stage. The annotation can be saved to file and emailed.
E.g.: If a new building design didn’t meet the clients requirements they can quickly draw over the picture/plans then send the annotations via email to the draughtsman for amendment.
The UPX is also a large control surface; the left half of the screen controls the main/audience view while the left controls a private preview window. The relevant source controls pop up when the source is selected.
E.g.: A DVD can be cued, by pressing the swap button the preview window is swapped with the main window. While the DVD is playing you can open a PowerPoint presentation and get it ready. When the DVD is finished you can quickly swap to the PowerPoint presentation.
Nobody wants to look unprepared in front of a client especially if he gives you only a few minutes on his time. You may have only 30 seconds to impress, so you don’t want to be messing around with the VGA output of your laptop which by the way is going flat, just use the UPX.
The client also wanted the ability to control the building via telephone; the CNXTA was perfect for the job. The client is able to phone the building, enter his password and let a staff member in while lazing at the pool.
The building is tied into the alarm system which is otherwise a standard SASRA approved Caddx unit. The alarm gives feedback to the Crestron system, when the alarm is deactivated the building is switched on, when it is armed all the Lights, HVAC and AV systems are switched off ensuring that if you leave in a hurry everything will be switched off for you.
