Triple-treat showdown at the AV Goes Live Roadshow

By Sithembiso Xaba

Electrosonic SA’s AV Goes Live Roadshow kick-started their incredible partnership with RGBlink. Rod Sommerich (RGBlink’s Sales Director) flew in from Australia, and together with Electrosonic’s team, demonstrated RGBlink’s range of switchers, scalers and processors to South Africa’s Pro AV and Live Entertainment industries.

Attendees of the roadshow were in for a triple-treat, as they had the opportunity to experience first-hand Martin By HARMAN’s video fixtures; the VDO Atomic Dots, the VDO Sceptron 10s and VDO Fatron 20s, together with ProSpectre’s new LED Screens.

Sommerich’s info sessions’ main focus was around project solutions and which RGBlink products work best for specific applications – big or small. He covered topics such as High Performance Processing with 4K input, Video Control Consoles and Seamless Switchers and Scalers with Test Tools for various applications.

During the showcase, Sommerich also enjoyed the interaction with Electrosonic and its clients, and had an interesting take on the South African market. “The South African market is more advanced in some areas and more isolated in others and as an industry is very similar to Australia. Honestly, the similarities are scary. I see some of the partners Electrosonic had come and could easily see them as Australian companies in the way they’re working and what they’re doing and how they’re doing it. If I were to compare; an Indian company will always be looking for the lowest price solution and will sacrifice function and feature to that price. But here, I could see people were definitely looking for the lower price solutions but they understood that they were getting something for the additional costs and not just settling for the cheapest product they could get. They understood the value proposition of our products.”

Sommerich continues, “The clients I interacted with weren’t aware of the capability of RGBlink’s universal processors. They were also surprised that we had a range of products that they hadn’t seen before like our AV solutions, or extenders and convertors as well as the MSP200 Pro testing wall unit. They commented that it was a useful tool and showed great interest for them.”

Hans Roosenboom, the Managing Director at EventPro followed Electrosonic’s event posts through social media for the AV Goes Live Roadshow and decided to attend and see the products on show. “I just pitched up. I didn’t book. I took a chance and I didn’t care if I sat on the floor” he said, a little amused.

Roosenboom was impressed by RGBlink’s M2 and T1 Control Consoles. “I liked Rod’s presentation and he obviously knows his products well. I like that he designed his demonstration for industry professionals as someone who understands the industry. RGBlink have designed products that will run for a long time. They are budget-friendly with a good return on investment and flexibility of application. The M2 is quite nice for the conferencing industry as it’s got a lot of inputs. The X1 also stood out as well as the preview monitors and the XPOSE software. It’s some really nice stuff.”

Bongani Dyala, who also works at EventPro as a Technical Sales Representative expressed his excitement on the XPOSE 2.0 software. “Rod’s presentation felt like a friend telling me about this new exciting equipment that I didn’t know about. The XPOSE software stood out for me, I’m sold. I struggle with clients demanding content even though they hand things over late. With XPOSE, you plug in a USB and the content is automated. It gives you the results you want. It’s adaptable, has different applications and easy to move around in their travel cases. You literally pack up and go.” Dyala concludes.
