A ROCK SHOW ON WHEELS

Johan van der Merwe has given new meaning to those famous Willy Nelson lyrics: ‘On the road again, Just can’t wait to get on the road again, The life I love is making music with my friends.’

Johan has modified a bus, turning it into a stage on wheels. One side of the bus opens up into a fully equipped stage – lights, curtains, smoke-machines… everything you need to create a rock show on wheels!

If that isn’t extraordinary enough, this bus is the very same vehicle that was used to transport another type of show: the Brangelina Show. Before it belonged to Johan van der Merwe Musiek it was Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie’s touring vehicle in Namibia. The Bus, as it’s known, has also hosted performances by none other than Steve Hofmeyr. Johan, who is himself a popular performing artist, has (on occasion) teamed up with his good friend Steve for concerts on The Bus. If busses could talk, this one would have a few interesting stories.

Recently Johan made the decision to give The Bus a modern new look. He approached Electrosonic SA (who’ve supplied most of the lighting kit for The Bus) to discuss design ideas. The Marketing and Lighting teams of Electrosonic SA put their heads together and proposed a few funky draft designs to Johan. It was a challenge coming up with the right branding design to fit the specific requirements of the bus, but the final outcome was a great success: everyone was delighted. We all love The Bus, and are glad to see it get back on the road again!
