ALI DUBFIRE BLAZES IN SA WITH KILOWATT AV
Kilowatt AV pushed the limits in Cape Town and Johannesburg late last year, pulling off a world class event with international DJ powerhouse, Ali Dubfire, who had enthusiastic clubbers packing dance floors in both cities.
More than 3000 people crowded into the Velodrome in Cape Town for the spectacular night. A 6.4m x 3.4m high pitch LED screen engulfed the DJ box, while two Christie LC 650 projectors projected bright images on 2 x 6m flown screens on either side, allowing VJ Roland Sweet to take the video production to the next level. The lighting rig consisted of 92 fixtures, including 20 x Martin MX10 Scanners, 20 x MAC 250 Entours, 16 x MAC 700s and a plethora of 1K Parcans, all controlled by the GrandMA desk.
The minimal tech house beats blasted through the d&b Audiotechnik Q-series Array systems, creating a sensory superload that blew away the audience. Power came in ample supply from the all new 120Kva silent Kilowatt Generator.
The line-up kicked off with DJ Ivan warming up the crowd for what was to follow. Next up was Dean Fuel, who bowed out to a storm of applause, which only increased in volume as Dubfire took the stage and moved the party animals to a different dimension!
Although the set-up in Johannesburg was slightly smaller, the Sky Raiders venue was virtually heaving as Ricardo De Costa, Dean Fuel and Ryan Dent played for the crowd. With such an enthusiastic response to a local line-up, one can only image what an international line-up would generate!
