GEARING UP FOR THE GRAHAMSTOWN NATIONAL ARTS FESIVAL

Technicians at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival will benefit in the run-up to the annual event through attending lighting master classes presented by Neil Fraser from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

These by-invitation-only classes are sponsored by Electrosonic SA in partnership with Selecon and will be held at Electrosonic’s premises in Johannesburg and Durban on the 25th and 26th of June 2009.

The one-day program includes theoretical and practical sessions relating to stage lighting and design, equipment such as Selecon luminaires, Martin intelligent lights, Compulite controllers, etc., and a practical project.

Robbi Nassi from Electrosonic negotiated with the Festival’s Technical Director, Tony Groenewald, for a venue at the National Arts Festival to run demonstrations and training on the equipment. The Rhodes University Theatre was offered as a venue for the training sessions in the mornings before the shows are presented in the afternoons. The sponsored equipment for the training sessions will also be used in the shows for the duration of the festival.
