The 2nd Annual SA Premier Business Awards were hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on the 19th March 2014. Keystone Productions was once again appointed as the technical Designer and Supplier for the event. Christopher Bolton - as Production Director - was responsible for the Lighting Design, AV and the Set Design.

Bradley Hilton worked with Christopher as the projectionist and Zookeeper ( ie. Hippo Media server management). Key to Christopher’s design was the Martin M6 controller coupled to his brand new Green Hippo HD Media-Server and his trusty Martin Maxedia Compact Media Server. Keystone’s relationship with MGG Productions, a supplier of technical services and equipment for events and productions in the fields of sound, lighting and video, ensured they were appointed as the preferred technical supplier.

The Martin M6 console was Christopher’s primary choice of lighting control for his elaborate lighting design “For me the M6 ticks all the boxes”. The Green Hippo Hippotizer HD Media server was used for a multi-layered frame effect, with a bordered frame that encapsulated all the HD content on the multiple Screens. “For each award and entertainment segment we had custom-designed combinations of borders to content. This meant having to run up to 6 Layers of Full HD Video on two outputs simultaneously: the Hippo did this seamlessly.” Another aspect is that the M6 desk controlled the Live HD Video Feeds and video playback through the Green Hippo HD Server. The Martin Maxedia Media Server’s primary use on the awards was for Pixel-mapping 48 Longman LED Battens.

“Pixel-mapping is something you don’t see too often. It always adds another dynamic to my designs.”

Christopher had complete control from front of house running on an elaborate network of THREE IP Range network:

  • - 10.*.*.* For Maxnet Pixel-mapping to the Martin ETHER2DMX8 to do the Pixel-map on the LED Battens.
  • - 2.*.*.* For the DMX ArtNet between the Martin M6 Controller Martin Maxedia and the Green Hippo HD Media Server
  • - 192.*.*.* For the remote network to see CITP thumbnails from servers, upload and arrange content on the Green Hippo Media Server from a remote Laptop and to run the wireless Apple APP for MaxRemote to remotely control the M6.
Overall, an elaborate network of controllers all supplied by Electrosonic gave Christopher and the Keystone Team immense power and total control over all lighting and video for the SA Premier Business Awards. “As always the support from Electrosonic has been superb and they are definitely part of my team at front of house”.

Keystone Productions invested in the Martin Maxedia Media Server in 2012 to use with their Martin Maxxyz Compact Controller. In 2013 they invested in the Martin M6 Controller to upgrade from the Martin Maxxyz Compact. In 2014 they invested in the Green Hippo HD Media Server which completes their inventory of powerful lighting and AV control.

Robbi Nassi from Electrosonic thanked the Keystone family of John, Justin and Christopher for their continued support and above all their friendship. “It is always a pleasure to be part of a growing company, and Christopher is so willing to push the boundaries to achieve the ultimate result his customers, and for Keystone Productions.
