SLMC - Stage Lighting Master Class - is a two day series of master classes about the art and craft of stage lighting design. SLMC is the only event of its kind in South Africa. SLMC was first held in 2001 and then again in 2004 and 2007. This year SLMC is taking place in Johannesburg and Cape Town and we look forward to seeing you there.
Who is it aimed at?
SLMC is aimed at anyone who is interested in stage lighting and theatre, from technicians to designers, stage managers, events crew, directors, choreographers and students. You do not need to have any previous knowldege about lighting design, we cover everything from the basics to the more advanced design techniques, tips and tricks. It does not matter whether you work in theatre, live events, television or corporate entertainment, SLMC is a great event and fantasitc opportunity to meet other people in your industry and network with professional designers and product suppliers from around the world.
Where will it take place?
SLMC 2012 will take place in Johannesburg at the Market Theatre Laboratory on the 27th & 28th September and in Cape Town at the Artscape Opera Theatre on 2nd & 3rd of October.
How do I register?
Registering to attend SLMC 2012 couldn't be simpler! JUST CLICK HERE, fill out the registration form online and send it to us. Or, if you prefer, you can download the form and email it back when you have filled it in. Once SLMC has received your registration form, they will send you a confirmation email with our banking details. Places are limited, so book now and reserve your place at the lighting event of the year.
How much will it cost?
The fully inclusive price to attend SLMC for both days will cost R1500 (incl. VAT) per person, or if you only want to attend one of the days, it is R975 (incl. VAT) per day. Students and scholars only pay R950 (incl. VAT) fully inclusive for both days on presentation of a valid student card. There is also a 10% discount for group bookings of more than five people and 15% for groups of ten people or more.
What does that include?
The price to attend SLMC includes full attendance to all sessions as well as product demonstrations and launches. Also included is tea and coffee in the breaks as well as lunch on both days. We will also attend a performance on the evening of day one and the ticket price for the show (to be confirmed) is also included. You will also receive a copy of the book "Theatrical Lighting Design - Making the Light Fantastic". All attendees receive a certificate of attendance.
What's new this year?
This year there is a large focus on LED lighting and the use of LED in current stage design. With LED lighting becoming more and more prevalent, we will share some of the things we have learnt in using LED as another "tool in our toolbox". This year we are pleased to announce that Richard Pilbrow will be joining the panel of South African lighting designers. Find out who they are HERE. We will also be showcasing some of the latest technology and design techniques and you will have the opportunity to meet and talk to the designers as well as the product distributors and sponsors of the event.
