TECHRIG GETS IT RIGHT AT MTN TOUR OF LEGENDS

The MTN Tour of Legends is regarded as the premier annual international mountain biking event. It is made all the more special by Africa’s spectacularly beautiful natural environment.

The route is not for the cautious cyclist, as it winds through the Big 5 territory of the Entabeni Private Nature reserve, situated in the Waterberg Mountains of the Limpopo province. The challenge includes a good mixture of open plains, deep ravines, tricky mountain paths, indigenous forests and magnificent views. MTN Tour of Legends’ pay-off line sums it up beautifully: Why walk on the wild side, when you can ride on it?

This year’s event took place from 16 to 19 August and 300 Prestige customers and corporate clients of MTN participated. The 3 days offered way more than only mountain biking. Guests were accommodated at the 5 star Legend Golf & Safari resort where they were treated like royalty with luxurious spa treatments, game drives and exquisite cuisine.

To ensure the remarkable success of this MTN event Advendurance - a leading African events company - worked closely with TechRig who was responsible for the lighting, sound, audio visuals and structures. “Events are not only judged on whether they unfold perfectly, but also by the manner in which a technical service provider can deal with challenges timely and effortlessly. That is why we partner with TechRig,” said Wessel van der Walt, Chief Operating Officer of Advendurance.

For the evening functions TechRig chose Martin Professional’s MAC 250 and MAC 700 wash lights, MAC 250 Entours, Versa-Light LED parcans and generic par 64 lights to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere. “The aim of the lighting was to create a look and feel that complemented the wildlife surroundings; we didn’t want the lighting to be too bright,” said Ruan Bezuidenhout, Senior Lighting Technician and Operator of TechRig.

High definition Christie projectors and Samsung monitors were used to bring the visuals to life, while Shure microphones in conjunction with Alcon and Yamaha audio components ensured top notch sound quality.
