Marcus Henning, theatre technician at the Hexagon Theatre at the University of KZN's Pietermaritzburg Campus, gives his impressions of the M2PC Lighting Control system.
I've been interested in getting an M2PC system for some time but experience has taught me that demo rooms usually don't have your gear mix in them and because there is no actual show to program for during the demo you're left a bit up in the air. So I borrowed mycolleague Evan's demo M2PC Lighting Control to check it out in a real-life situation: an upcoming show in the Hexagon Theatre.
UK electronic dance band The Prodigy are famous for their loud, bright and in your face shows and on their tour to South Africa they showed no signs of stopping. The tour at the beginning of December was on a smaller scale than usual, but they made full use of the equipment they had at their disposal.
Christopher Bolton is a Johannesburg lighting designer who, does not shy away from asking questions, expanding his knowledge or applying his skills. Chris, like most lighting designers, often feels that he has either too few “toys”, or too little time to express his full creativity. However, in this day and age computers are an ever-present as well as a key aspect in Entertainment lighting design, presenting designers with boundless opportunities.

“Danish based Schouw & Co., parent company of Martin Professional, has entered into an agreement with the global infotainment and audio company HARMAN International Industries to sell Martin to HARMAN. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in Q1 2013.
