Brooklyn Baroque, La Traviata Widmung, Nachtmusic …. All sounds a bit classical?  Welcome to the Brooklyn Theatre, a new theatre in Pretoria which is dedicated to the promotion of classical music and employment opportunities for South African classical musicians and singers. 

Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium is spectacular. From the soaring arched spine to the translucent membrane cladding, it’s an inspired design. The same attention to detail went into the lighting and control systems.

It’s not often that a school has the funds to create its own state-of-the-art dramatic arts facility, let alone a world class opera theatre, but St Mary’s Anglican School for girls in Waverly, Johannesburg, has done just that. However, the venue is not an indulgence, it will also generate income for the school by being hired out for corporate functions.
