As usual in spring each year, Bruce Schwartz of Electrosonic flew to London to attend the PLASA show. This year’s event was notably smaller and quieter than in previous years, but most of the familiar faces were still to be seen, including locals Mike Jones, Manny Manim, Dennis Hutchinson and Declan Randall.
South Africa’s neighbouring countries are often overlooked as potential markets, so when Bruce Schwartz from Electrosonic received a call from the Lesotho National Convention Centre, he leaped at the chance to pay a visit to the mountain kingdom and explore potential business opportunities.
When Viewpoint AV Technologies, a Cape Town based company with 12 years experience in the staging and events industry, made the decision to invest in their very first moving lights, Rhys Pughe-Parry investigated all the options, took advice from Electrosonic and selected the Martin MAC 250 Series.
With so many MAC 250s in the Cape Town area there is always the opportunity to hire in similar lights when needed, so it made sense for Viewpoint AV Technologies to invest in the MAC range.
Their initial purchase was 2 x MAC 250 Entours and 2 x MAC 250 Washes - a good start to their moving lights inventory, and Electrosonic has doubt that the Martin rig will grow along with company’s expansion.
